Title: How to protect in the closed beta
Post by: Kaise123 on October 24, 2012, 05:41:13 PM
Since I have just installed Residence, I thought I'd write a quick guide on how to protect. This applies to all the ranks
This information while valid at the moment, may not be the same when the server is fully released as I plan to use aliases to make protecting easier, and to Change the limitations on protecting.
These are very rough, temporary instructions that I made in a hurry.

First, Get yourself a wooden spade.
Now, left click on one corner of the area you want to protect with the wooden spade, then right click on the other corner. If you want to expand the selection at any time, type '/res select expand <distance>' while looking in the direction you want to expand it.
You will want to expand your selection upwards or downwards to cover your entire build. Just use '/res select expand <distance>' while looking either directly up or down.

Now, Type '/protect <name>' (Change <name> to the name you want to call your protection).

The build is now protected. At the moment there is a 30x30x255 restriction on protections, and this may be changed later, and may be different for different ranks. The maximum number of protections per Guest user is currently 4, and the other ranks have not yet been set.

So staff won't need to protect stuff for people :D Wheew. This will make it a little less stressful :3

Well this is Kai's server and if he wants a self protecting plugin on the server, then so be it cuz it's his servr. And I agree, it is easier to teach trusted smart staff members how to protect for others than it is to teach everyone who joins the server.

While that is true, It is easier for players to use 3 commands to protect themselves then organize a fleet of staff to do it for everybody.
