Suggestions / Re: Mobs

You're playing in survival. So yes while the foundation of the game is blocks, part of the foundation is also survival day and night, fending off hunger during the day and monsters at night, if you don't want to be attacked don't go outside at night, and carry torches with you in the mine. Also to my knowledge, no we cannot control the mobs spawn rate. So yes I agree with you maybe mobs do ruin the fun, but while I agree with you I also disagree because many players would not see things the way you do, so changing this even if it was possible would create an uproar, and it would ruin the point of survival.

I disagree on the basis that single player has peaceful mode. But, if there really is no way to do it, then I guess I'm complaining for nothing. Also, I've heard several other players who agree with me on this subject.

The least Kaise could do, if not lower the spawn rate, is change the difficulty level. Fending off hunger is hard enough. Unless the server's setting is already easy, in which case I'm complaining to the wrong people because Minecraft 1.6 was apparently designed to be a frustrating heap of frustration. In my mind, an "easy" setting means that completely stupid people could do it.

Suggestions / Mobs

I know there are lots of people who play Minecraft that love fighting. PvP is extremely popular, and mobs give valuable drops when killed. But, what about players who just want to play a game about blocks? At it's foundation, Minecraft is a game about taking blocks and stuff and rearranging them to make other stuff. So... when did it become a game about fighting?

There are too many mobs on the server. An example of this is when I'm in survival, mining things, and I have a full inventory of valuables. Then I get attacked. And attacked. And attacked. And attacked. And attacked. An.... see the problem? It gets to a point where it's not a game about blocks, it's about fighting. If I wanted to play a game about fighting, well... there are a billion games on the internet alone all about fighting things. I have even more of them for various consoles. Whoopdeedoo, now it's what Minecraft is all about.

It seems like mobs have kind of a novelty value if displayed in the correct light. But when they just keep coming until you're dead, that completely destroyes my original view of what the game itself was, which was a "sandbox" game(if I have the right term). In the newer versions, the sheer number of mobs that come at you at one time has grown to at least twice what it was when I first played the game. Now I just die unless I have fly at my disposal or a big, enchanted armory. "But Karathor," I can hear the voices saying, "Mobs aren't really THAT hard." Ok, what do you do when twenty zombies come at you and behind you is a big pit of lava? Umm..... my guess is that you'd die. Relentlessly. Bye bye, hard-earned hour's worth of mining.

I'm fairly sure there is a mod out there that can control the number of monsters you come across in the game. If I'm not mistaken, it was implemented into the previous server. There are also several xp grinders, of which I have my own. I've even allowed others to enter it when I'm there because it's protected. And there I can kill things to my heart's, wallet's, and enchanting table's content. But in survival, there's no reason to be afraid of losing my stuff because things won't stop attacking me. The old un-modded spawn rate would be better than this noise. All I'm suggesting is that it be taken down a bit from where it is now to where I have some control over when and where I decide to stop fighting things. Even in Easy mode on Single Player, there are too many. I don't really play on hard, but does the spawn rate even change or do they just get harder to kill? If it's the second, then "easy" mode isn't really easy. It's not easy anyway, but really, it is misleading.

Other Minecraft Help / Re: Resource Packs
August 30, 2013, 08:46:32 AM
It worked. I just downloaded a pre-made resource pack with everything in it, some of which looked different or extra to the guides I've tried to follow before. I was able to separately change things within the pack I downloaded, and it all works. I think the problem is that most guides leave out details or get small details wrong. I think the problem is my computer sucks. It's a complicated process, more than it needs to be. Really, it's a piece of crap. Anyway, once I had the resource pack downloaded, changing things in it was actually easier than doing it the old way. It's just getting it to that point that was like brain surgery.

Other Minecraft Help / Resource Packs

Can someone who has made one before write a guide for creating a resource pack? Everytime I try youtube or anything else it doesn't work, and the only time I've been able to even get the pack to show up on the in-game menu, it didn't actually make any of the changes. Maybe Windows XP is just doomed, I don't know.

I can see what you mean, But a lot of the times the things they do just aren't worth/aren't common enough for a ban, And generally you just have to be quietly tolerant to a certain extent. However, If you don't think that something is being dealt with in the correct manner, Please post it on the forums/email/Skype/PM me, And I'll make sure to look at it for you, And explain any reasons why a decision has been made. If something is really bothering you please formally report them :)
XD I don't agree with the tolerance part, but the rest is fair. I was expecting something because a mod was on both times, but I never did make a formal report. I think I sounded like a jerk, too... ^u^" Sorry about that. Thanks for all you input.

There are no punishments defined as it is completely up to the staff member at the time. They choose the punishment based not only on what they did but the way they react and their past reputation.

I don't think that people should be banned or any real consequence for spawn killing, unless they are doing it ALOT. However, You shouldn't be able to PvP at spawn anyway, So that needs to disabled.

That seems to be the case for everything. People do something here and there because they get away with it if it isn't done frequently. They get off with a warning, and nobody changes. They just wait until they think enough time has passed. Then they play dumb when they're told not to do it. As far as reputation is concerned, I don't care if one dude is a nice guy most of the time. A rule breaker should be treated as such. Actually, I expect better out of nice people. That's why it's worse when they do it. A rule needs to be enforced or it isn't a rule, and nobody should be bothered with telling people not to do it.

Mostly, I'm tired of complaining about things and being laughed at by the person I'm complaining about. Frankly, if something doesn't matter, tell me so that I can stop wasting my time bugging everyone about it.

I'd like to add something to this. What are the disciplines for different rules being broken?
The reason I'm bringing this up is, I was killed today in W:W inside the actual spawn area after leaving survival. I wasn't running from pvp. In fact, I had already been killed and respawned. I was also unaware that pvp stayed disabled when returning to W:W. The one who killed me got off with nothing more than a warning. I believe this is clearly prohibited, and there is no excuse for not knowing spawn killing is against the rules. There was another incident like this in which I was lava killed in W:W, but I won't go into that now. I'm not even mad about being killed anymore, just baffled that nothing is ever done about it. There were also at least two mods online who witnessed the incidents via chat and commented on them both times, as well as both offenders admitting to what they had done as if nothing mattered. If the regulations for punishment could be more clearly outlined, I think victims would feel more justified by actions taken against offenders, and mods would follow more strict protocols.

I've followed everything in the instructions and don't get the "modded" release under the version select bar in the launcher. I've tried renaming the .json and .jar and also without renaming, but no avail.

OS: Win8 Professional x64

Your completely sure that you are in the right place? Tell me the file paths that you are editing? I'm running Windows 8 Pro as well, But the same procedure should work for Vista-Win8.1. XP should work as well, But with the different file path

C:\Documents and Settings\tim\Application Data\.minecraft

This is the file path I used after wrestling with my computer for about an hour. It's different than what was in the above tutorial which did not seem to work either for my system, and I had to try a few others before finding this one. The trick is to try and follow the original path your computer tries to download it on. For example, the original path it wanted to download Minecraft itself to led directly into the My Documents folder, but I couldn't put it in there because all the other files get mixed up and Optifine still wouldn't work. I still went through kind of a documents-type file path, and then turned down the traditional pre-1.6 path to Application Data. There is no gurantee this will work for anyone else's computer, as mine has a tendancy to be a trollolololol :o, but hopefully this gives you an idea of how to find the right destination folder.

At last I've figured out where the confusion was. First, I followed Han's advice((thank you Han)) because I am running W-XP. Then I just tried naming the jar and json files modded without adding anything else to the file names and it worked. Somewhere on youtube I had been fed the idea that I should name them modded.jar and modded.json, but obviously this was false information. It was also in your tutorial, Kaise:

"As a bit of a recap, We should now have a folder called 'modded' inside 'appdata\roaming\.minecraft\versions' and inside the folder called modded we should have 2 files: modded.jar and modded.json. If you don't understand this or don't quite know how we got to here, thoroughly re-read the instructions until you do."

That was mildly misleading along with the youtube information. For anyone having this problem, try leaving out the .jar and .json and see if that works. Thank you Kaise, and Han, I'm gonna go enjoy some Optifine.

General Minecraft help / Re: Optifine 1.6

Alright. I do appreciate the detail and time you put into this. However, I'm having the same exact problem I had with the youtube tutorial. I can not get "release modded" to show up under versions. I followed every single step up to that point every time, and it never works.

Without citing youtube((never works)), can someone please post a detailed tutorial on how to install Optifine to 1.6 here, where it can be tested and, if it doesn't work, discussed.

General Minecraft help / Re: 1.6.2 modded clients

Quote from: Kaise123 on July 13, 2013, 09:30:07 PM*EDIT: http://puu.sh/3BQxa.jpg Got it working alright. I had to add OptiFine as a library though. Want me to write out a tutorial?
If it's more than just downloading it and putting it in "libraries", that would be extremely helpful, as I have a tendancy to be bad at these things anyway. I do have Optifine 1.6.2 and it's in the same area as the rest of the Minecraft stuff, I just don't know what to do from there.

P.S.;I finally got 1.6.2 to work! 8D
