Luxey's Engineer Application!

Hello everyone! This is my Engineer application and hopefully, it'll meet all the necessary requirements! :)

Just as a side note, while I do have the Builder rank right now, I'm not entirely sure when I received the rank as I never applied for it. I think that I've probably had the rank for over 3 weeks now though, since I obtained the Citizen rank in late August as you can see if you click on this link: http://forums.kaise123.com/index.php/topic,3190.0.html. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let's get started!

IGN: Luxey

Time Played on KCv2: I started playing around August 7th, so..almost 2 months I think. When I was a Citizen, I played around 2-3 hours every day, and I still play around the same amount now! I sometimes don't play for 1-2 days just because I'm busy in real life, but other than that, I'm on the server building many different projects!

My total McMMO level: 509 with mining at 205. As of right now, my best skill is Mining since I clear away a lot of blocks for my builds.

Why I want this rank and think I deserve this rank: Well, I love to build! I'll be honest though, in the beginning, I didn't actually have much interest in becoming an Engineer. Don't get me wrong! It wasn't because I was too lazy to apply or anything like that! I was just already more than happy when I became a Citizen, and I was practically ecstatic when Zlexy decided to promote me to Builder in game!

I was working on a few builds, mainly my semi-underground house one that you'll be able to see later, when Bobby teleported to me and asked whether or not I was planning on becoming an Engineer. At first, I said no because I was already pretty content with the Builder rank. However, the idea started to settle in, and I became more and more intrigued by Redstone. Unfortunately, I knew close to nothing about Redstone, so of course, I decided to Google it and learn as much as I could about the foreign material. I constantly was looking up ways to use it and saw many YouTube videos about Redstone. Now, I would consider myself pretty knowledgeable on this subject! While I know that there are many other Engineers who are whizzes at Redstone and can probably completely demolish me in an instant, I can only hope to one day either be like them (I think I'm slowly getting there!), or collaborate with them in a project.

I have began to incorporate some Redstone contraptions into my day-to-day builds, but for the purpose of this application, I have chosen to create a flat grassy area to display them as quickly and as effectively as possible. Like I said before, I am always trying to figure out new and unique ways to use Redstone. However, buying Redstone materials is quite pricey. If anyone knows me, I don't normally even like to buy items from the mall. I usually prefer to just collect my own materials as it keeps me interested in the game. My main focus used to be and still is building, but now includes making Redstone creations. With this in mind, I hope that you will be able to understand when I say that it becomes increasingly hard when I have insufficient funding. Achieving this rank will speed up my building process by ten fold! While I do want Engineer to help me with my builds to make them more impressive, I'm sure that I will be able to help other players with my newly gained insight.

In my Citizen application, I stated that "There's no doubt in my mind that I'll continue playing the server for a long time as I thoroughly enjoy the server and its friendly players" and of course, I haven't left yet! I am still dedicated to KCv2 and KCv2 only. I now know that not only will I continue playing the server because of its welcoming players and helpful staff, I'll keep playing because I consider all the players as a part of my family. Plus, I just love the server!

Redstone Related Pictures and descriptions:

The picture below shows a semi-automatic brewer that I have created. Firstly, you hit the lever underneath whatever ingredient you want. Then, you stand on the stone pressure plate that is in front of a chest to allow the water bottles to drop into the brewing stand beneath it. After, you'll have to hit the button to the right of everything, which will dispense all the items necessary for the potion along with either Redstone or Glowstone dust (depends on which one you want).  The way that you get the brewed potions back is by stepping on the stone pressure plate on the far left side and then they'll be in the chest! Below it is a nether wart farm because I needed some in order to actually brew potions.

No need for levers or even moving your hand to open doors now! There is a much easier solution to opening iron doors! This Redstone creation just needs any kind of item to open as long as you throw it in the right place.

Below this picture is a completely automatic melon farm. What happens is when a melon block grows, the piston at the top will compress/break it so all the melon slices will fall into the hoppers, which lead to a chest. It's pretty simple, but its effective!

This next one is probably the simplest contraption there is. Basically, when you walk onto the wooden pressure plate, a Minecart will pop out and the rail underneath it will be powered. So all you need to do is click it and wait until the end of the ride. At the end, the two dispensers on either side will shoot an arrow to break the Minecart so it will fall into the hoppers, which lead to the dispensers beneath the track. Once again, simple, but it would be cool to see in an adventure map of some sort! Even though it is pretty simple, I think that its unique.

There is a lever inside of that little shack which sends a signal to the dispensers to shoot out water so all the seeds and wheat will come down and drop into some hoppers which will, of course, lead into a chest. Once I click the lever again, the water will go back into the dispensers, which allows me to reuse the water buckets!

Below this small paragraph is a picture of a 2 by 2 completely flush piston doorway.

This is an elevator, which works in Multiplayer and is pretty quick in my opinion. The only downside to this creation is that you have to place 2 blocks, but there's an easy solution to that. Anyway, you have to put 1 block above the water and a "stepping block" diagonal to it. All you need to do is stand on the "stepping block", hit the button, and you'll be at the top by no time!

This is a Redstone fish tank! Sorta. It just simulates fish swimming by using Minecarts, Hoppers, Droppers, and other Redstone materials. There is sand at the bottom of the fish tank so the raw fish can just drop underneath it into hoppers. The hoppers will bring the fish all the way back up to the top and they will be distributed by using Minecarts.

As for my Redstone builds, I don't actually think my explanation justifies any of them, so I would be glad to show the Admins how each one works. :D

Pictures of Non-Related Redstone Builds:

I know that it isn't required for me to display non-Redstone builds, but I just wanted to show what I've done in game so far anyway!

Since my Citizen application, this is how far I have gotten with my semi-underground house! I think that you'll be able to tell that there is a noticeable difference. I only took pictures of what I edited from last time, so I didn't include some parts of the house. In one of the pictures, you'll be able to see where I added my Redstone knowledge into my build.
I've also decided to create a city! This is the spawn for my city so far. I think that there will be water flowing somewhere though to make it look nicer and more majestic.

I have also made part of a large dragon's wing, but it isn't even close to being complete so I have chosen not to show it right now. :P

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read my Engineer application! If it is lacking in any aspect, please let me know so I can improve on it!

Luxey,

I haven't met you in game yet. But I can tell you what I just read is one of the best applications I have ever seen. You clearly show a great passion for building complex redstone networks which I know can be very frustrating and confusing to build. I'd love to see how some of your creations work, because I myself am constantly on the lookout for useful redstone circuits I could use in survival.

Furthermore, your writing skills are impeccable. It's good to meet someone like you, and I'll hope to see you in game any time soon!

You have my full support on becoming engineer.

I can't approve or disprove engineer apps, but I will say one thing all of us have on our minds at the moment.

Without further ado, and with the help of google images, I do say:

Agree with Wolfy, Impeccable application. However, While I'll accept this based on the exemplary written application and the fantastic builds, Could you please give co-ordinates to the majority of redstone constructions? I assume you used F1 to make the screenshots neater/remove the HUD, however as there is no chat and the area around looks fairly clean, I can't confirm they are actually on the server.

Also, Is there a good reason you are using an AnchorFree proxy service to connect to the server?

Thanks, And congratulations

Thank you for your kind words and for accepting my application! :) To get to the majority of the Redstone creations, I think the warp is '/warp redstone' and the coords of it are: x:-1176, y:158, z:1754.

Also, the reason why I'm using a Proxy to connect to the server is because it just sort of unsettles me how people can see my ip or where I'm connecting from. That's all. :s
