Grief/Player reports / Re: Totally destroyed
March 17, 2014, 05:37:42 AM
It may not have been improperly protected to begin with. I've seen players that have actually built out of their protections and then blame a staff member for not protecting it correctly.

Like was stated, we can't do anything without the coordinates...

To start with, repairing your armor isn't going to do anything even if he had repaired it.

You'll take the same amount of damage with full health armor as you will at half-health armor.

The only thing I see here is a butt-hurt player who got mad because he wasn't doing as well as he thought...

The command logs also show that he didn't use "/fix all" to repair his armor. Your argument is invalid.

Jake, try not to let them get the best of you next time. When people get incited, all they'll do is get even more riled up. Next time this happens, just ignore them and leave. It's like you said... why waste the time?

I was never on that often when you were on, but I do recall seeing you online and you've been a straight-A kinda person.

When you come back, you have my full support.

General Info / Re: Demotion: BlaaaazMC & Blarno
March 16, 2014, 12:25:55 PM
How did you guys find out about this, anyway? Did someone from their fac tell you?

I caught f10r3tt1 due to looking up the logs with blaaaaz's name. Apparently he was using the "/enderchest" command to move items into f10r3tt1's enderchest.

I suggest removing the invsee and enderchest perms from all staff except levels 4 - 7.

I thought Blarno was an elite and blaaaazMC was a builder? I hope you guys got the right ranks. The rule has always been that players were demoted to their previously held ranks before they joined staff.

Also, it appears f10r3tt1 is guilty as well, looking through the console. If he's not on the ban reports list, I'm going to go ahead and issue him a 21 day ban for helping the staff member(s) smuggle items into survival.

If there's anyone else involved, we need to go ahead and get them as well.

Suggestions / Re: peaceful fac take soo much member
March 12, 2014, 06:53:16 AM
I do not support a limit on the number of peaceful faction members nor shortening the amount of peaceful faction positions available. I believe it's fine the way it is. I believe it would force us to remove some members from peaceful factions, and this in turn would hurt our image as well as the server's image of how it accepts its players.

I also think limiting the number of peaceful factions would be counterproductive to limiting the people in the factions themselves. If you take away a few peaceful factions, then the people are just going to move to another peaceful faction that has open slots. It wouldn't in any way create a raid-able fac.

I would, however, support a limit on RAIDING factions. Too many people in a raid-able faction actually makes the faction unable to be raided. If you limit the people in the raiding factions, they'll have to find another raiding fac to go to or make one themselves.

Ban Appeals / Re: Ban Appeal
February 27, 2014, 03:15:05 PM
Because I was now mentioned in this Ban Appeal thread, I would now like to state that Jake is correct.

I drew the line when you started to join on other player's accounts and then you started repeatedly asking what you did wrong (having full knowledge of what you were doing).

Just FWIW.

Engineer Applications / Re: Engineer Application
February 17, 2014, 06:04:21 AM
I just had a brilliant (yet obvious) idea.

Here are the coordinates to my builds.

x: 9997 y: 101 z: 10003

My builds are in the End. :)

Interesting builds, would you mind putting a warp to them so I can check them out?

Also, please fill in the other required information required to apply:
In your application, try to provide a lengthy reason as to why you want to be an engineer.
Nice app so far :)

Builders cannot set warps. I can, however, get on the server so you can come to me and look at them in person. :)

I've also lengthened the reason regarding why I want engineer. (To be honest, it IS a pain in the tail not being able to spawn items. I forgot how convenient it was between the time I was staff and now. LOL. I feel that being able to spawn everything kind of made building boring.)

"I've been playing since May of 2013, and I'm ready to gain the last free rank available so I can feel like I've accomplished all that can be accomplished on the server. It's always bothered me that I couldn't go back and get engineer after I became a staff member, so now is the perfect chance for me to finally get what I wanted. To add to that, it really bothers me not being able to spawn the redstone items that enables me to build these kinds of things. If I were to make a city and light it with redstone lamps with daylight sensors, I would have a rather dubious task laid out for me. Granted, you can always go back to the mall and buy more items, but I had to actually set a home inside of the mall by the redstone section in order for me to go back and forth and gather the things I needed to build these particular things. I'll also note that I've noticed a few blocks (and items) are missing from the mall, and someone should go and check the item and block list to make sure that the mall has a complete section of items."

I support this application, it's detailed has all the requirements needed and I think surpasses what we would expect from an engineer application.

Hehe, thank you. I wish you would've waited until part two though. :P Lelelelele.

The third build that I want to showcase is one that was advised of me to build by Airischwartz. She told me that she wanted to build a one-hit mob farm that would enable players to kill mobs with a single punch. I set this up with a zombie spawner and one mob-ladder. It features a simple on and off switch that activates redstone lamps at the top of the build. Obviously this will disable the spawner, but it seems to have some difficulty doing so with the light levels present in the end.

The fourth build is a cobblestone generator that works via a pressure plate, a lever for an on and off switch, and a series of hoppers that go to a collection chest to ensure that the player will never lose any cobble that they've farmed from the machine.

The way the machine works is that a player will stand on a stone pressure plate (set to stone because wood would keep the machine running if a piece of broken cobble landed on it) that will send a redstone signal to a comparator. The comparator creates a loop that runs a piston that sits perpendicular to the lava and water covered up by obsidian. This piston will push cobble away from the generator (towards the player), and when it retracts will allow the lava to flow onto water to make more cobblestone. Directly across from where the player stands is a lever that will activate another redstone piston that will push and pull a block of stonebrick to cut off the redstone signal between the loop and the cobblestone piston. The surrounding bits around the generator is obsidian, so that a player can use a diamond pickaxe to harvest the cobble without worrying about breaking the machine. That being said, I probably should've lowered the hoppers down a little further from the player so that it would reduce the possibility of a player breaking a hopper with the pickaxe. This is easy to avoid if you watch what you're doing though, and the speed that the cobble flows will help keep this from happening.

And finally, the last build is a trap setup that features multiple pistons and hoppers. Basically, it emulates the inside of a cave with stone pressure plates that are hidden from a players view by visual camoflauge. I must admit that I was killed by the Zenentrick version of this trap in survival when I was partaking in a raid against the faction, and I thought it would be a nice homage to create my own rendition of this trap.

Basically, it's just pressure plates running to sticky pistons that will pull stone blocks back and open up a chasm that the player falls into. The gap is kept closed when not looking at it by a redstone inverter, and when the pressure plate is stepped on, it'll power the inverter that will reverse the signal and turn the pistons off so that the floor retracts.

The height is sufficient enough that the player will die on impact, but in case of the player having eaten a golden apple or something of that nature, I've had lava placed mid-ways down the trap to set the player on fire. This will help ensuring death. When the player is dead, his/her items are automatically collected and sent to a chest nearby for item collection.

Properly executed, this trap will blend into the surroundings and it will catch most players who are too dumb to keep an eye on where they're going. the trap  is also timed with repeaters, so that nothing will happen the first moment that a player steps on the pressure plates. This is to give the temporary illusion that all is well.

So concludes my engineer application. Just let me know when you're ready to see them in person and I'll be willing to do so.

Thank you,
Wolf

Engineer Applications / Engineer Application
February 17, 2014, 05:32:15 AM
Thus, the time has finally arrived! I must fulfill mine own wishes and make engineer. :)

I've been playing since May of 2013, and I'm ready to gain the last free rank available so I can feel like I've accomplished all that can be accomplished on the server. I'll also note that I've noticed a few blocks (and items) are missing from the mall, and someone should go and check the item and block list to make sure that the mall has a complete section of items.

The first build I have that I want to showcase is a semi-automated chicken farm. The farm works with the Craftbook Plugin's pipe, a series of hoppers, dispensers, and a few comparators.

To begin, a player would need eggs or one chicken. The chicken would be placed inside of the water and hopper room near the top of the device, or an egg would be placed in the pipe chest in the "control room". If using an egg, the player would just flip the lever until all the eggs are in the chest at the top of the farm. Once there, they go through a hopper and down into a dispenser, where a comparator will detect if the dispenser is loaded and produce a redstone signal that will fire the eggs from the dispenser. The eggs go into the water and hopper room and will produce chickens when broken. Once the chickens mature, the chickens will automatically lay more eggs that can then be moved from the collection chest to the egg loading chest. If I wished, I could've made another pipe with a filter sign that would allow me to simply flip a lever to send the eggs to the egg chest, but I wanted to keep it simple and as non-cluttered as possible.

Once the chickens have sufficiently built up to the point where the water and hopper room is full and is more or less devoid of any space, you can flip the kill lever. The kill lever is basically a redstone comparator with a set of repeaters and 12 dispensers loaded with arrows. The arrows are aimed at the chickens, so that when the arrows are fired, the chickens would be killed. Since they're sitting over hoppers, the feathers and chicken meat are sent to the collection chest at the bottom of the farm. There's a small stairway that enables you to climb up to the top of the farm and open a door to retrieve your arrows to restock the dispensers before you dispense more chickens.

The second build that's going to be in the showcase is an automated grilled pork farm. Basically, on the top level is 4 pistons that are configured in a way that they will fill up a 2x2 area with water that will then flow downwards. These pistons are shut off and on with a simple lever and redstone torches to get to the top of the build.

The second floor of the pork farm is basically the floor that creates and herds the pigs. The pigs spawn from two spawners that have glowstone underneath them and grass around them to produce the desired light level to create pigs. Once the water flows from the top of the machine, it'll wash the pigs off the floating grass platform down to the water and sign portion below. The pigs are then pushed to one side of the machine where they're filtered into a small 2x1 block hole with signs and lava below.

Once they go through the hole, they'll hit the lava and fall onto a hopper and chest arrangement beside the button at the bottom. Any mob that produces food (cow, pig, chicken) that is set on fire and dies while on fire will produce cooked food without the need to use coal. The hopper catches the grilled pork and the chest contains it until enough has been built up to collect whats in the chest. (If you wish to see the large version of this creation, ask Steve to show you the 5 spawner farm I made for Hyrulians when the silk touch plugin was on the server. It's 6 times the size, has only 5 pistons, and a block above each spawner to divert the water flow to push the pigs off. It takes up four floors, and is the width of the base of the Hyrulians tower. A player could easily fit a large sized house in the space it took to make it.)
