General Info / Demotion: BlaaaazMC & Blarno
March 15, 2014, 04:03:44 AM
Today, Exi and myself figured out how both BlaaaazMC and Blarno cheated massive amounts of items into the survival world.

As a result, it has been decided both players have gotten a permanent demote from the KaiseCraft staff, and their ranks have been brought back to citizen.

We want to state clearly that anyone cooperating with cheaters is also considered a cheater. When seeing something that doesn't seem right, report this immediately to the highest ranked staff. Also glitches should be reported!

Proof is to be found in the spoiler underneath.

PS) All cheated items have been removed from the game.

Suggestions / Re: peaceful fac take soo much member
March 12, 2014, 02:41:12 AM
I agree there's too many peaceful factions.

If it's up to me only 1 peaceful faction would be allowed. We at least need a limit that sets a maximum.

Pianonano; as we haven't seen you in-game yet, we're not sure what to expect of you. We'd like you to speak to us in game if possible first, before we take you into consideration.

Shuff; you're accepted as we have known you for quite some time already. We believe you to be a player with potential and growing possibilities, welcome aboard! ;)

Pepsy; I think I've spoken to you once in-game. Please contact me another time and we'll have a little chat.

Hamza,

We took your request into consideration, but given your past with our faction, we're afraid we can not allow you to join us. Good luck on joining another faction though! ;)

Y'all are morons. If you study 3-5 hours daily then you should know by now that the human attention span is just under 30 minutes with a 15 minute "Resume" time. The best way to study is 25/10, where you read for 25 minutes with a 10 minute break.

Or you do the me, have a very powerful short term memory and reading 50 pages on the electrolysis of aluminium 10 minutes before the exam and it somehow works.

I just couldn't let this post get away freely.

At Belgian universities, students have 2 times a year a period of exams. This period takes up to 40 days of non stop studying along with a few days making exams. This means, I myself, study for 10-12 hours a day during this period (which we call 'blok'), without stopping in the weekends for 40 days straight.

Taking breaks like you do means 40% of the time you're not studying. In the best case, when there's only 10 hours of studying to do in a day, this means I wouldn't do anything for 4 hours. This equals the academic death penalty in Belgium, meaning you won't pass even a single exam. I'd like to see you do it in 3-5 hours a day. I would be amazed. Even the highest IQ's wouldn't make it here that way.

I'm just saying there's lots of differences between school systems all over the world, and lots of differences between what the expectations for students are. Here they're terribly high.

Of course since you're talking about electrolysis, this probably is still high school you're talking about. High school is nothing compared to University, at least not here.

Accepted Staff / Re: Luxey's Moderator Application
November 18, 2013, 08:02:13 AM
Yesterday, I met you for the first time and you seemed like a very nice person to me. I will support your application since your application, as usual, is perfectly written. I hear you're a very patient person, which I believe is a very important skill for a moderator. Hope to see you soon with the crew!

Accepted Staff / Staff application : Deimos
November 15, 2013, 06:39:47 PM
Dear forum,

After having played for over 4 months on this server, and having spoken to lots of fellow players, I believe the time is ripe for me to apply for a staff position on this server. In the following sections, I'll try to explain as clearly as possible my motives for doing so, and why I believe to be an asset to KaiseCraft's staff.

My real name is Nicolas B. I'm a 20 year old student, living in the cold and rainy Belgium. My mother language is Dutch (Flemish in fact), but I'm also a fluent English and French speaker, I have basic notions of German. My subject of study is Physics & Astronomy and I'm currently in my 3th year of University. This means school is actually my 'full time job'. I try to do as much side-activities as possible though, sports, going out with friends and playing some Minecraft from time to time.

In Minecraft, my most frequent activity is playing on the Survival world. Communicating with other factions is something I really enjoy doing, as well as building my base, constantly trying to make it better. Apart from survival I play on my own creative world in which I build complex redstone networks that could be an asset to the Survival game, especially automatic systems.  My basic knowledge of electronics certainly helps with this ;). In fact I had no experience with Minecraft before KaiseCraft. I started playing this game after my brother advised me to do so, meaning this server is the place where I learned most of my Minecraft skills.

The way I'd see my possible function as a moderator is the following. I have a decent activity on this server, meaning I'm able to see and notice a lot. Not only players whose behavior isn't like it should be, but as well problems that are due to technical issues on the server. As a moderator, I'd feel obliged to describe these well, and posting them on the forums or contacting Kaise123. I know he isn't able to be online all the time, so an extra set of eyes is no unnecessary luxury.

Furthermore, I'm willing to be an active member on the forums. I'm not such a frequent poster, however I read everything and only interfere if I think it's necessary. I like to found my arguments properly and I despise bad grammar, which brings me to another point.

I think this server is in dire need of some, let's say, maturity. Doing a quick search, I already figured out I'm among the oldest players here. I think it wouldn't be a bad thing to have more adult staff members. It makes communication a lot easier and pleasant (mostly older people know their English better, and have better verbal skills).

Next, I'd like to talk about the commands I'd need to know. Of course, since I have no previous experience, I don't know them all by heart. I did some Wiki-readings however and I think I know the deal. Furthermore, my brother Exigopro told me he's more than happy to teach me how to use them.

I think KaiseCraft is a very good server. And even more important I believe to get along quite well with other players. That's the main reason I kept playing here, and why I'd like to help making KaiseCraft even better.

To finish with, I'd like to state that I'm very curious to hear your feedback. Please don't be afraid to give your proper opinion, and if there are any questions or remarks, shoot.

Greetings to you all!

Deimos

I'll do an attempt to unscramble this nearly one-sentence-argument.

Alright so first of all, let's not assume anything, so let's see that johnathan has set home near adam's base, and now he attacks them. But wait, how can he? He can't get anywhere, he can't /f he because an enemy is near him, and if Adam is offline he needs to retreat, as Adam will now know where he is, bases aren't that easy to attack at all, sorry if this turns out as an argument

I truly have no clue whatever you're saying here. If Jonathan sets home near Adam's base, why would there be no possibility for him to attack him? He can get anywhere he wants if the base isn't secure enough. If he gets killed, Jonathan just uses /f home, gears up and gets back to his /home, ready to attack again.

And explain me why he would retreat? What does it matter to Jonathan that Adam knows where his home is? If Adam gets too close to Jonathan's home, het just goes to his faction Home until the coast is clear to strike again. And this inability to teleport because an enemy is near him, as I said, he might get killed, but it's just as easy to return again.

Sorry but I truly don't see what point you're making here. Please write in a way other people can at least make something of your text. I don't see this as an argument at all by the way. A forum is a place to discuss matters like these, so no reason to think this is a fight or anything.

and reports can be handled easily as well, it's survival, you can do the same as well, it's not that he has an advantage or something

What advantage are you talking about here? Reports can not be handled easy at all... If Jonathan supposedly /sethome near Adam's camp. And Adam reports him (if we assume this is not allowed at least), Jonathan will quickly unclaim these lands, thus erasing all the evidence. It would be an infinite drag for moderators to handle these reports.

and besides, people can still do the thing now, they make an account, situate the person near the opposing team's base, and when he comes, kill if they can, but they'll be stuck like before, as I mentioned, so it's really no difference to people who want to use it to attack, but we can't really get to our own base by having an account there

Well, teleporting to an account that stands there is of course a possibility and I believe this should be penalized as well. Or just not allow people to have multiple accounts in survival.
"We can't really get to our own base by having an account there", please, tell me why you wouldn't be able? This is just exactly the same thing as having an account anywhere else. You could teleport to that one just as easily. Again, I don't see what you're trying to say here.

Alright, so now we go to the second place, so, how can one get a place full of resources? I mean, what resources? Ores? That's not really valuable and they'll pretty much run out soon, so that dosent make a lot of sense, or have I misunderstood?

I mean all sorts of resources, wood, ores, food, etc. It doesn't matter if they're invaluable to you, it's unfair to obtain them that way. And yes, what you're saying doesn't make a lot of sence indeed. Do you have even the slightest idea of what you're saying here about ores running out? Do you know how incredibly large the survival world is? As far as I know it's infinitely large meaning there's no reason at all to believe they would run out. And even if it's not infinite, if we'd look at the explored lands only, there is not even 1% of the ores in it mined yet.

Please if you respond, make yourself a little clearer (use sentences) so I can understand you, because this was a hard one. No hard feelings though, I'm just trying to get a debate going ;).

So, if someone does manage to /sethw near an enemy, they should be reported, as you can see a lot of claimed land using /f map as well.

Please tell me how 'near' would be specified? Is it not allowed to /sethome withing an X-amount of chunks? Or X-amount of chunks from the center of the other base; or the edge? Or only do it briefly so no one will notice? There WILL be misuse, I'm completely certain of that. And it would give people reason to start more quarelling about it: 'I'll report you since, blablabla', things we heard more than enough already.

Let me give another argument.

Assume I find an area full of resources I'd like to exploit. Once I have a full inventory, why not briefly /sethome there, teleport back to my base, go back /home and start gathering more?

The fact that we have /f home already spares us one walk, but with /sethome it would just get all too easy.

If this gets through, I'll post a new suggestion on the forums asking for people to be able to fly as well. Why not? It wouldn't differ much from this.

First suggestion:

As you said, taking a screenshot would indeed make the staff's work a little lighter. Though, it's not completely certain one is completely honest with it. I myself could easily manipulate screenshots to put whatever name I like in it, for instance my mortal enemy. If staff members themselves checked who griefed, with their own eyes, it would be much more conclusive.

Second Suggestion:

I don't agree there should be multiple warps. One is just fine. For instance, I have one base which I acces with /f home, but if I'd create another /sethome next to the base of my enemies (without them knowing) I could easily attack them every time they log in. If I get killed, I use /f home, gear up again, and use /sethome to attack them once more. This is unfair, so no support on this one.
