Why was my residence wiped.

Today I logged on, to work on my artwork.. it wasn't until 2hours that I was confidently working on my project that I realize my whole town was unprotected.
I have alot of work and luckily it wasn't griefed.. well as far as I know, haven't looked around much.
I had to re-protect all my areas,

What I want to know is, why did this happen?
If my residence gets removed again and huge project gets griefed I'm just calling it quits.

Note : I have 6 seperate residences to cover up my town.. since even builders don't have a massive amount of residence space creation.

Well if your looking for a better protection option it would be asking a Moderator+ to help protect with World Guard. It's quick and easy and only one protection is needed for a big area such as a town.

How long ago did you make it?

The original residence I made it about two months back or so? (When I came back from my xmas break to find that residences were wiped & i got griefed during that time)
I slowly expanded the residence more, but approximately over the course of two months

Hmm... It should still be there. Very unusual, Unless the server crashed very shortly (<10min) After the residences were created).

I would recommend following Beast's advice and getting a Moderator to protect it with WorldGuard
