Title: KaiseClient Lite - Concept/Idea
Post by: Kaise123 on November 04, 2013, 03:55:23 PM
As I'm currently testing Minecraft 1.7.2, And waiting for the fantastic people over at Minecraft Coder Pack to update so that mods can update, I was thinking that it would be convenient for most people to have access to a newer version of the game without having to wait for me to gather mods, and get the time to piece it all together.

My idea is a different branch of the KaiseClient - A lite version that will be released shortly (<2 weeks) after each update. I'm going to create the first edition of this today if all goes well.

It will either include no, or a very limited set of mods, and will be kept separate from the standard version. What does everyone think/Does anyone have any input towards an idea like this?

Really great idea, I really love it, most people can't update to newer version and an automated installer will surely help them! :)

Good, good. I would be very satisfied with that as your client is unplayable on my PC, too many mods.

There is always the no mods installation... Although I actually generally find that my client plays better than vanilla, because of Optifine. There aren't really many performance hitting mods on it.

Kaise you can include McPatcher instead of optifine because its not released for 1.7.2 yet .. ::)

can you make the lite-version portable(without the need of %appdata% or user-folder, etc.? It would be nice for school & editing.

it woul be nice too, if you can create an own folder with own mods 1.7.4myversion/1.7.4myversion.jar with is not overwritten by the launcher to intergrate own mods like optifine or other things. And the possivility to add you own mods to the ressoure-folder. So if it´s portable you can easily use different directories for different versions.

thx

Julia :)

If possible, I may consider making the lite version portable. The only issue is, portable versions are much harder to predict (As files cannot always be read from and written to the same location) so it could cause instabilities.

As for adding your own mods, you can already do that in all versions of my client and the official release, and they can also be put in separate profiles/folders.
