Offline mode for Minecraft 1.5.X - 1.6.X+ - MCOpenLauncher Updates Here

If only Sparamoule cracked the launcher so that you could also play it on pure LAN (i.e. without an internet connection).
On start it contacts the server to retrieve a list with the current minecraft versions, but you're only able to choose a version when connected to the internet =/

Anywho: props to Sparamoule and Kaise123 for the share! =)

edit: You can play without internet if putting all the needed files together and running the jar using javaw incl. parameters

update: Unfortunately the latest snapshot 13w23a doesn't work with MCOpenLauncher 0.7, Mojang have updated theirs to 0.8.3 =(

It would be really interesting, instructive and useful to read exactly which files you include as parameters for javaw, even if the actual version of the open launcher suffers from the recent update.

You don't need to connect to the internet to play, Only to download the latest copy of the game when you first launch it. Once you have opened it and downloaded the necessary files, you can play offline on LAN.

EDIT: Also updated the OP with the new 1.0.5 version, The links I originally got it from were pointing at 0.9.5. It's the correct version now, Everyone update haha

My 1.0.5 of Sparamoule's failed to work because it needed another update.

The 1.0.5 on here on the other hand, works!? (confused)

Did Sparamoule update his or did Kaise?

Its not that i find it important who cracked it, as long someone does it i'm happy (i also have premium btw)

I just want to know who did it, so that i can thank him, her or both! =P


Now for something different: I've managed to create a working 1.2.1 WITHOUT cracking the launcher!

Inside the archive (zip) there's a a .bat script, an .exe, and unzip.exe

The .exe was created using WinRAR (self-extracting), but if you're sceptical or afraid to run it you may also choose to unpack the files using the extractor bat(ch)

(another way to check the contents is to right-click the exe and choosing 'Open with WinRAR' from the context menu)

edit: oh.. the most important files you'll need to play on pure LAN (i.e. offline) are:

- MC_Open_Launcher.jar (or Minecraft.jar + .minecraft\launcher.pack.lzma when using my version)
- the files under .minecraft\libraries\
- the game itself under.minecraft\versions\
- .minecraft\launcher_profiles.json

Of course you'll be missing in-game sounds and such, so .minecraft\Resources\ (<=1.5.2) or .minecraft\Assets\ (1.6=>) is also nice to have

When using my version, .minecraft\launcher.pack.lzma is needed because Minecraft.jar will try to download this file for 10 times (no matter if one already exists), and will fail if it can't find it.

What happens then is: launcher.pack.lzma > launcher.pack > launcher.jar, after which Mojang's launcher is executed (launcher.pack gets deleted afterwards)

It should work on your MacBook. Download the Universal/JAR version and use that (http://www.kaise123.com/minecraft/McOpenLauncher/JAR/McOpenLauncher.MC162.V108_Universal.jar). (Ahem*throwawayyourmacandbuyadecentpc*ahem)

It should work fine... The file is clean, trust me (Many people have used it with success). I assume you have Windows, so just download and run the EXE, Select the install location and your good to go. You need an internet connection to run it.

Should work fine with just the EXE. Are you sure you have the latest version of Java? Otherwise just use the Jar file and see if that works

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this... Can you clarify it please?
